At this month’s Ableton meetup, we’ll take an in-depth look at sampling and hip-hop production techniques with two special guests:

  • SF-based hip-hop artist Decap will show you one of his Ableton projects and break down his methods for composing and arranging the song.
  • Javad Butah will demonstrate sampling workflows on the Push 2.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

  • Decap is a San Francisco-based producer and performer who has worked with Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, and Ableton. His approach as an artist is to unite the filthiest grit from hip-hop with the transformative power of consciousness. Check out his collaboration video with Ableton here.
  • Javad Butah is a musician, composer, educator, and producer in Los Angeles. Butah earned an M.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts and is a disciple of world-renowned tabla master Pandit Anindo Chatterjee. He also works for Ableton as a local brand manager.
  • Lenny Kiser is a producer, audio engineer, and owner of Sequence One music school in Oakland. He’s an Ableton Certified Trainer, and he organizes the SF Bay Area Ableton User Group.
